Kitchen Compost Container Filters

I purchased a kitchen compost container, however, I can’t seem to figure out the filters. Why did the container come with 2 filters: 1 round filter and 1 square filter? Also, the hole in the top of the container is round. What is the purpose of the square filter?
Our Answer:
Hi Patty,
Unfortunately, there seems to be quite a bit of confusion around these filters. Check out all of the reviews on Amazon.com regarding the replacement filters that they sell for the Norpro Compost Keeper. I assume that’s the model you’re referring to?
Below is a picture of the filter set taken directly from Norpro’s website:

We’re not using this particular compost container at the moment, so I can’t be 100% sure of my answer. Tribe, if someone else out there can help out, I’d appreciate it. Thank you.
If I can recall correctly, both filters (square and round) fit into the lid. This creates a tighter seal. I believe you insert the square filter first followed by the round filter.
Can the users of the Norpro container verify this please?
I’ve contacted Norpro just to be sure. Hopefully, we’ll hear back from them in a day or two.
