Using Bacterial Tea as a Starter for a New Batch of Tea

I received some worm compost from a friend and made bacterial tea. I would like to make more tea but no longer have any more compost. Can I use some of the tea I just made as a starter for more tea by adding more water and molasses? Could I add some good quality soil to contribute to the bacterial count?

Bacterial Worm Tea

Hi Ron,

Yes, go ahead use a portion of your original batch of tea as a starter for the next batch. Similar to making yogurt.

What happened to the worm compost that you used to brew the original tea? Did it get used in your garden? If so, I’d recommend taking some of that soil and adding it to your next brew (along with the molasses and water).

When you say “add some good quality soil”, what exactly do you mean? Where will this soil be coming from? Do you have access to any form of compost?

Also, are you brewing your tea aerobically with a mechanical brewer? Or just steeping the compost in water in a bucket?
